Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Director of Facilities (Plant Operations), the Manager of Facilities (Plant Operations) is responsible for the Facilities Maintenance Department, life safety and the environment of care programs. The Manager of Facilities (Plant Operations) directs and coordinates maintenance staff, proactively identifies and resolves problems within the physical environment, work estimates and schedules, sets deadlines to ensure completion and reliability of operational functions. The Manager of Facilities (Plant Operations) ensures continuous regulatory compliance in Life Safety and Environment of Care and is responsible for the development and implementation of new programs to ensure safety and code compliance of the hospitals physical environment. Assist the Facilities Director in oversight of budget and administrative activities of the department.
Essential Duties
Ensures reliable and efficient central utility plant services, directs building, grounds and equipment maintenance and repair services; initiates and directs renovating and plant improvement projects as required; evaluates and manages all activities of the Facility Services Department.
Provides direct leadership for plant operations, maintenance and grounds functions for the hospital.
Prioritizes the department personnel in day-to-day operations and project completion.
Directs Facilities Operation during Directors absence.
Responsible for overall administrative, operational and technical physical plant engineering functions.
Oversees the collection of data to report regulatory required documentation.
Maintains Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for appropriate updates to equipment inventory, testing frequencies etc. through oversight of Facilities Administrative Assistant.
Supervises employees; responsible for employee recruitment and retention.
Has accountability for departmental operating expenses and capital improvements.
Accountable for ensuring facilities compliance with all applicable local, state and federal codes and regulations.
Assist in tracking of activities to accomplish work in cooperation with other sections of the department and/or other facility departments and services.
Participate in daily/monthly staff meetings.
Assist with updating policies and procedures.
Attend facility-sponsored training, track, coordinate and plan Hospital training needs as they apply to Fire Safety, OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
Requisition relevant supplies and tools for repairs, maintenance and trades.
Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
Participate in scheduled department meetings.
Produce reports to track goals and objectives.
Exchange and/or obtain information from patients, families, visitors and staff in a tactful and professional manner.
Use appropriate grammar and writing styles to compose professionally written general correspondence.
Minimum Requirements
Education/Training
Required:
High School diploma
Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field preferred.
Job Knowledge/Experience
Required
Three years of experience in a managerial capacity and oversight of maintenance / engineering personnel.
Proficiency with computer programs and data entry.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or similar office and support programs.
Knowledge of TJC, NFPA, CMS, DOH and other regulatory testing requirements
Preferred
Two years experience in an acute healthcare engineering setting.
